South Shore Living Taste of New England VIP Reception Kick-Starts America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Weekend
There’s no better place to celebrate our nation’s heritage than in the town of Plymouth, the site of the first Thanksgiving. Each year, the town hosts a weekend of fun festivities, the weekend before the actual holiday, which attract people from all over New England. Events include patriotic concerts, an impressive parade with floats and marching bands, and the ultimate foodie draw—The New England Food Festival.
South Shore Living helped kick-start this year’s America’s Hometown Thanksgiving festivities by sponsoring the Taste of New England VIP Reception on Friday, November 19th at 5 p.m. The invitation-only event took place in the Blue Room at Plymouth Memorial Hall. Local food vendors dished out hearty fall favorites, including award winning seafood bisque from Lindsay’s Restaurant in Wareham (featured in South Shore Living’s November/December issue), freshly shucked Island Creek Oysters from Duxbury (a crowd surrounded the raw “boat”) and rich, artisan chocolates by Sirenetta Chocolates in Scituate (read about these creatively flavored chocolates in the January/February issue of South Shore Living!).
Special guests at the party included America’s Hometown Thanksgiving organizers like Executive Director Olly deMacedo, major parade sponsors, members of the military, local politicians, and members of the WCVB Eye Opener team: Channel 5 Co-Anchors Randy Price and Bianca de la Garza, as well as Meteorologist J.C. Monahan and Traffic Reporter Dorothy Krysiuk. Following the reception, guests were escorted downstairs, to enjoy a free patriotic concert on the grand Memorial Hall stage featuring talented vocalists, musicians, and dancers from the United States Air Force performance group, Tops in Blue.
