Locally Celebrated Chefs Entertain at South Shore YMCA’s 10th Annual Connecting Communities Gala and Auction

Dec 15, 2010 - 03:42 PM

There’s a common saying—it takes a village to raise a child—and for many local families, the South Shore YMCA is a major part of that village.

Each year, the local non-profit holds a major fundraising gala to help raise funds to help support its Strong Kids Campaign as well as its programs at the Mill Pond Facility in Hanover, the Quincy YMCA, two summer camps in Sandwich, as well as a food pantry and Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg with Hy Tran of the restaurant Alma Nove in Hingham.neighborhood center at Germantown in Quincy. Encompassing more than 40,000 members and participants, of whom nearly two-thirds are children and teens, the South Shore YMCA has a major impact.

South Shore Living once again had the pleasure of being a media sponsor for the South Shore YMCA’s 10th Annual Connecting Communities Gala and Auction, which took place on Saturday, November 6th. In addition to a seated dinner, provided by Hingham’s Catered Affair, guests were entertained by notable local chefs, Jasper White of Summer Shack in Hingham, Paul Wahlberg of Alma Nove in Hingham, and Robin King of Oro in Scituate, who showed their support by cooking up tasty appetizers for the guests.
