Window Shop and Walk... For a Good Cause
While November is the month many of us like to get a jump start on holiday gift shopping, it is also the month we are reminded to give thanks. Do both this Sunday, November 4, by heading down to the South Shore Plaza to participate in the South Shore Elder Service’s annual Stroll the Mall for Meals on Wheels event. Between 8:30 and 11 a.m. 300 plus walkers will be taking a 5K stroll around the mall (3 times around the first floor) to help raise money for the South Shore Elder Service’s Meals on Wheels program, which provides hot meals to more than 1,300 homebound elders every day across the South Shore. The whole family will enjoy this event as adults can walk and window shop while the kids take part in making Thanksgiving cards for elders. When the walk is over, giddy-up on the holiday shopping, or take the kids to see Santa at his new “Elegant Garden” setting in the Nordstrom Wing.
Participants may make donations at the event or make pledges before the walk ( for pledge sheets contact Susan Lambropoulos at 781-848-3939, ext. 362.). People can come at any time between 8:30 and 11 a.m. to walk. Long sleeved shirts will be provided to the first 150 walkers. Students can also receive 4 community service hours for participating in this event. For updates on this event, visitwww.facebook.com/southshoreplaza
