"Be Colorful Tour" spotted on the South Shore

When we spotted a Jeep Wagoneer and mobile flower cart painted with fancy pink and green decorations parked on the sidewalk outside The Paper Store at Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham, we simply had to snap a picture. The pretty flower cart was filled with buckets overflowing with brightly colored flowers. Fashionable Vera Bradley representatives were there to hand out complimentary bouquets to passersby as part of a cross-country “Be Colorful Tour.” Inside the store, shoppers were given special coupons and shown how the flowers related to the season’s hottest Vera Bradley fabric patterns, with cheerful names like “Priscilla Pink” and "Doodle Daisy.” The style team is currently touring the New England area, so if you want to get...

These sweet little duck cookies look good enough to eat but they’re actually all-natural doggie treats sold at the newly opened Maggie’s Dog House at Derby Street Shoppes. The new shop is an extension of a popular pet boutique in Hingham Square by the same name. The bakery cases display all sorts of gourmet biscuits, with creative shapes like ice cream cones, lobsters, and Red Sox baseballs, as well as fun seasonal shapes like bunnies and ducks. All the biscuits are made with natural ingredients, like wheat flour, chicken broth, honey, yogurt, and carob. Dog lovers will also enjoy perusing the colorful collars and leads as well as baskets of fun dog toys and accessories. Runway Grads Raise Money for Scituate Animal Shelter

And now for something completely different—local models from Maria Wood’s Fashion Focus modeling and finishing program entertained audience members at a recent fashion fundraiser by parading down the catwalk while carrying adopted shelter animals. On January 8, 2011 the south shore got a little more fashionable thanks to a group of graduating models from Maria Wood’s Fashion Focus. A semi-annual charitable fashion show was held at the Pembroke Knights of Columbus to benefit the Scituate Animal Shelter. The show featured nearly 150 girls from ages 5-18, who each donned their own creations inspired by the theme “Tuned in to Fashion,” which showcased the influence of television on fashion. A few of the models walked down the runway holding adopted shelter...

Feed Your Need for Fashion

The latest winter fashions from the store White House Black Market were showcased on November 19th at a Feed Your Need for Fashion fundraiser at Summer Shack in Hingham. Guests were greeted at the door of the popular Derby Street seafood restaurant by uniformed Marines who collected unwrapped toys for a holiday Toys for Tots drive. The fashion show was organized by Pembroke fashion photographer Steve Sullivan and Rebel Beauty Products LLC (Rebel Hair Studios), who provided hair and makeup services for the models. Keeping with the Summer Shack’s casually chic style, models posed in glamorous outfits atop platforms wrapped in brown paper. A massive carved ice luge shaped like a stiletto served as both a stylish centerpiece and a charitable treat, as the proceeds from each shot were...
