Soft sunlight streams through the tall windows that line the front walls of Expressions of Scituate, a new cooperative artist shop. A glass art display glistens and the bright pink, blue, and green fabrics of dresses glow with the radiance of a perfect summer day. The shop, which opened in the spring, was the creation of a committee of local artists and features a portion of each artist’s work.
The store offers a wide range of products in a variety of artistic mediums, including handbags, pillows, and belts by Elizabeth Pink Webber, beaded jewelry by Kathy Beagley, pottery by David Kraemer, and scented handmade bath and body products by Jan Rohwetter, such as chai exfoliating scrub and orange nutmeg. There is also beautiful fine art photography by Peggy Roth Major and Doug Hockman. The artists each take turns working at the shop, which gives them an opportunity to showcase their unique works and also meet their customers face to face. Sharing the responsibility also keeps things fresh and exciting for visitors.
