When a tree falls in the forest, Brian McAlpine will likely hear about it. That is because he is the owner and craftsman behind Eternal Furniture & Design, a Braintree based company that builds handmade and environmentally friendly contemporary furniture.
McAlpine builds furniture using only responsibly harvested domestic hardwood, and most of the table tops he creates are crafted from salvaged, storm damaged (a fallen tree), or certified tree farms. All of his pieces are built using traditional joinery and the natural blemishes in the wood become part of the character of the pieces and he only uses natural oils, waxes, and ultra low VOC finishes.
With a degree in mechanical engineering, McAlpine’s background was in metal, but three years ago he decided to switch his focus and attended the North Bennet Street School to learn about furniture design. He now produces magnificent contemporary furniture pieces out of his workshop in Braintree. He has also displayed pieces at G green Design in Norwell. Whether customers are looking for an entertainment center, sleek looking wall cabinets, or a one of a kind dining room table, McAlpine can create beautiful pieces earth lovers will be proud to own.
