It is maple season, and trip to the South Shore's Matfield Farm is a great activity for the kids.

March is maple season at Matfield Maple Farm in West Bridgewater. Families can visit the farm for a first hand look at a historic New England tradition that uses new technology. The tour includes a 1/4-mile hike through the woods to see where the trees are tapped, plumbed, and the sap is collected. Learn about the history of sugaring and how weather affects the harvest. Taste a sample of pure maple syrup and purchase packaged syrup, sugar, candy, and collectibles at the farm gift shop. Tours are held on weekends throughout the month of March at 12 and 2 p.m. $5.00 per person.
