EXPLORING THE SOUTH SHORE ONE BITE AT A TIME
Blueberry Muffin Morning
Seems like the parking lot at the Blueberry Muffin in the village of Cedarville is always packed, which is always a good sign when it comes to restaurants. This laid back establishment is where the locals go, and the wait staff seem to know much of the crowd by name. On weekends, the line of customers can stretch out the door as people patiently await stacks of blueberry pancakes the size of dinner plates, enormous impossible-to-finish 3-egg omelettes and the biggest chocolate glazed doughnuts you've ever seen.
A massive chalkboard hangs against the shingled wall outside the restaurant and promotes homemade pastries, and on one recent weekday morning I decided to stop in to grab coffee and fill a bag with a few sweet breakfast treats. Guests picking up orders can pass by the tables and head straight to the pastry counter at the back of the restaurant.
On this occasion I chose two blueberry muffins and two apple-filled doughnuts to supplement our usually simple breakfast routine. Back at the house my husband and I sipped mugs of coffee and munched happily together before heading off to work. Now, I know what you're thinking...possibly not the best choice for those watching their mid-section. Still, life is meant to be lived (albeit in moderation) and you never know how many blueberry muffin mornings there will be. So, what the heck, go ahead and enjoy a little sugar rush.
