EXPLORING THE SOUTH SHORE ONE BITE AT A TIME
A Different Kind of Dessert Wine
If you’re looking for a decadent gift for a special bride and groom, or even a little something to set the mood for your own fall romance, Local Vines and Gourmet Shop in Cohasset has the perfect treat.
Just this past year, Debbie Hardey of Local Vines teamed up with Hingham resident Phil Edmundson who owns Chateau Edmus in France and Deborah Puopolo of Puopolo Candies in Hingham to make one-of-a-kind dark chocolate dipped wine bottles. Chocolate covered wine… now that’s a good time!
Puopolo dips each bottle in a special dark chocolate, swirling it in with milk chocolate which complements the earthiness and deep fruit flavors tasted in the featured Chateau Edmus Saint Emilion Grand Cru (from the oldest terroir of the Bordeaux region). Just pop the cork, pour a glass, break off some chocolate and savor the luscious combination. What’s not to enjoy about that?
And I know what you’re wondering, because I was too. No, the chocolate is not dipped and melted directly onto the bottle. The bottle is completely covered in FDA approved shrink wrap so it is completely sanitary and easier to break off the chocolate while leaving the bottle like new.
Bottles are dipped to order. Orders must be made at least 2 days before they are needed). To order, call the store at (781) 383-8463, or email wine@localvinesandgourmet.com.
As a brand new addition, Hardey just teamed up with Westport Rivers Winery to feature their RJR Sparkling as a special chocolate dipped bottle. ($80 each, or gift boxed with 2 champagne flutes for $120).
