02/15/11Breakfast Salvation at 5 South MainWhen I dropped the car off for an oil change at 7:15 one morning recently, the garage owner informed me that the mechanics hadn’t arrived yet. “Leave it and come back at 8:30,” he said. Hark! Was that a breakfast bell I heard? It sure sounded like it—and since I required a location within walking distance—and made-to-order food, there was only one choice, 5 South Main, a storefront eatery down the street. When my daughter and I ate our morning meal at this particular restaurant almost two years ago, it had just changed hands. 12/11/10Sushi CravingWhen I was first asked to write for South Shore Living’s food blog, I knew my first entry would have to be about one of my most favorite foods–sushi. Of course, when thinking about sushi, New Tokyo in Plymouth immediately came to mind as one of my top picks for a great spicy tuna roll on the South Shore, and a place I frequent often. Located in the Home Depot Plaza in Plymouth, the restaurant offers an intimate sushi bar located at the back of the restaurant where you can watch the chefs create a variety of fresh specialty rolls, sushi platters, tempura, and sashimi with specials that include my personal favorite, “The Deadliest Catch,” made with spicy tuna and crabmeat inside with cooked spicy king crab and crunch on top.
