Hot Diggity Dawg
What started out as a hot dog cart in an industrial park in Holbrook has now transformed into a kid-oriented business. Island Dawg began serving up delicious dogs last year and has now moved to Library Plaza in Marshfield.
The sleek, silver cart is owned and operated by Chris and Laurie Igo of Marshfield. Now that soccer season is over, the enthusiastic couple is based at the playground. They sell the classic candy selection of Ring Pops, Air Heads, Push Pops and Sour Patch Kids alongside a variety of sodas and Utz potato chips. However, the main draw is the steamed-to-perfection Nathan’s 100% beef hot dogs and fresh Wonder Bread rolls straight from Randolph. The hot dogs are a bargain at $2.50 and include a variety of cold condiments such as mustard, ketchup, onions, relish and banana peppers. For an extra 50 cents, you can add either sauerkraut, a sweet onion sauce that originated on the streets of New York or Laurie’s homemade chilli. The newest menu option is the ‘Lemon Shake Up’, homemade lemonade with just the right amount of sugar. The Island Dawg hot dog cart is open Monday–Friday from around 11– 6, weather depending.
